1966 R. Buckminster Fuller, FIDSA (1895-1983)
At its second annual conference in San Francisco, CA, IDSA honored Fuller with its "Award of Achievement," the first such a Special Award to one of its own members. Fuller's geodesic domes had attracted worldwide attention after their appearance at the 1954 10th Triennale in Milan, the 1957 Triennale, and the USIA exhibit in Moscow in 1959. In 1964, Fuller had appeared on the cover of Time magazine.
