1965 Constantinos Doxiadis (1913-1975)
At an April banquet in New York, IDSA presented an "Award of Excellence" to Dr. Doxiadis, "a comprehensive man, world planner, and world designer who through his environmental involvement has enlarged the scope of our profession."

Architect and city planner Doxiadis graduated from the Athens Technical University and obtained a doctorate from Charlottenburg University, Berlin. He began his career as Chief Town Planning Officer for Athens. After WW II he founded Doxiadis Associates, that specialized in Ekistics, the new field of interdisciplinary science he proposed to create more livable human settlements by managing growth. In 1965 his firm had twelve offices throughout the world, working on projects in Philadelphia, Detroit, Miami, Louisville, KY and Washington, DC.
