1968 Dave Chapman,
FIDSA (1909-1978)
At IDSA's annual conference in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Mr. Chapman
was honored "for significant contributions over the past three decades,
and particularly for his vigorous sponsorship and backing of design research
and high standards of industrial design education." A pioneer of
industrial design in Chicago, Chapman opened his own office, Dave Chapman,
Inc., in 1936 after heading the Montgomery Ward Bureau of Design. He was
president of The Society of Industrial Designers (SID) in 1950. For more
