CIA: The Art of Navigation By Craig Miloscia Cleveland Institute of Art put on an informative 2 day design symposium with the world as an interface. International event occurred the end of February with speakers from around the world. Erik Spiekermann participated via internet 2 streaming technology on a television. That was a cool idea, but his comments got lost in translation due to some technical difficulties. Erik made many good points about the state of navigation in Germany and Europe. Hillman Curtis, web and motion designer from New York City talked in person with the cutting edge perspective of navigation. His clients include world class companies such as MTV. Fred Collopy, Professor and Chair Information Systems Department, CWRU Weatherhead School of Management brought navigation to a pure mathematical and musical point of view. This was the perfect mix to the designers vision. Jurgen Faust, Chair of The Technology and Integrated Media Environment (T.I.M.E.) was a wonderful international statesman by being moderator of symposium and giving walking group tours of the futuristic T.I.M.E. facilities at CIA.
