Dr. Vivek Pinto, IDSA
Dr. Pinto has worked for the past 6 years as a research biomechanical engineer at the Occupational and Industrial Orthopaedic Center (OIOC) under the umbrella of NYU Langone Medical Center. He has developed diverse ergonomic and biomechanic studies and recently completed his PhD in Ergonomics and Biomechanics at New York University. This training not only gave him an understanding of the functions of the human body under duress but also helped him apply research findings to product design concepts. Previously, he completed a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh and worked for roughly 2 years as a cooperative learning student for Mine Safety Appliances Company (MSA). At MSA, he worked as a mechanical design engineer on a new product development team designing thermal imaging cameras for fire fighters. This experience gave him thorough training in research and development work for product design and exposed him to everyday challenges engineers face in industry. Dr. Pinto’s future objective is to return to industry to develop consumer products based on evidence of improved human safety and performance.
