Martinage, an association management veteran with more than three decades of experience, joined IDSA as executive director in January 2013.
Prior to joining IDSA, Martinage served as executive director of the International Coach Federation (ICF), the Home Automation and Networking Association (HANA) and the National Council of the Multifamily Housing Industry (NCMHI). He also held the post of associate director of the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC) in New York City.
While at ICF, Martinage successfully completed professional coach training and served as ICF’s chief spokesperson. His insights on coaching have been featured in elite media including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Miami Herald, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Business Week and Money Magazine. Martinage also served for seven years as a reviewer and judge for The Washington Post Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management.
A Certified Association Executive (CAE) since 1987, he holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and speech communication, and a master’s degree in science, technology and public policy from The George Washington University.
A native of Cape Cod, MA, Martinage splits his “down time” taking walks on the beaches there, or hiking the trails in the Alleghany Mountains where he has a weekend home.
