Doug Cooke – Founding Partner, Tinder
Doug founded Tinder, Inc. in 2006 to provide direction for clients who are trying to create meaningful product innovation for their customers. Focusing on contextual research, integrating brand, technology, and market perspectives, Tinder bridges the gap between research insights and concept opportunities. Doug leverages his broad experience connecting qualitative “ethnographic” research with leading innovation that centers on people’s needs, desires, and aspirations.
Prior to forming Tinder, Doug was a Senior Design Planner of Consumer Insights & Trends group at Ziba in Portland Oregon. In this role, Doug applied his 21 years of design consulting experience to leading a broad range of product innovation, communication, and brand projects. Integrating user, market, and client perspectives, he has guided the design and innovation process for such clients as Samsung, Lenovo, Nestle, Nike, Purina, and Logitech. Doug has extensive experience in in US and China, uncovering user behavior, activities, attitudes and values to identify unmet needs. His achievements in research and product planning for Lenovo, Digital Computer and Johnson Controls have earned him industry recognition in the form of both Gold and Bronze IDSA awards and in design patents.
Prior to joining ZIBA, Doug was a Director in the Product Development at Fitch, Inc. in Boston and a graphic designer in Chicago. His previous work included development of consumer and medical products, annual reports and collateral.
Doug holds a Master's degree in Human Centered Design from the Institute of Design, IIT, Chicago, where he received a fellowship, and a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from the University of Akron.
