Stephen Melamed

Stephen Melamed, IDSA | University of Illinois | Tres Design Group

Stephen Melamed began his studies in theoretical physics at Boston University (BS) and later received a Masters Degree in Industrial Design from the University of Illinois Chicago.

Melamed also studied under Bauhaus artist/designer Werner Graeff. He has been awarded a design fellowship by the National Endowment for the Arts & Humanities and a research grant from the R. Buckminster Fuller Foundation. He authored “By Design: Museum Environments for All” and was a speaker at the First International Design Conference sponsored by the United Nations. In addition to his duties as managing partner of TDG, he is currently Clincial Professor of Industrial Design/Interdisciplinary Product Development at the University of Illinois Chicago.

The Tres Design Group

The Tres Design Group(TDG) consultancy was founded in 1984 in Chicago by an association of American & European Industrial Designers. The award winning firm has won international recognition working in diverse industries both domestically and abroad.

In the development of any product, there comes a time when breaking with tradition becomes a necessity.
At Tres Design Group we are engaged in the pursuit of those solutions which ultimately enhance the function, technology and form of any product to a stronger competitive level within the global marketplace.
