Mr. Sooshin Choi is the Associate Professor and the Head of Industrial Design Program at the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning, University of Cincinnati, USA. He received MFA at Hong-Ik University and also studied at Royal College of Art in London and The Ohio State University.
Professor Choi has been professional industrial designer over 25 years as a designer, design manager, and designer director in the fields of automotive design (Daewoo Motors and Kia Motors), furniture design (Fursys and Iloom), and innovative product design (DEKA R & D) in Korea and in the United States before joining University of Cincinnati in 2003.
At University of Cincinnati, he teaches Product Design, Transportation Design, Universal Design, and Theory of Industrial Design. He also leads the Design Innovation Studio at University of Cincinnati and serves as a vice chair of IDSA Southern Ohio Chapter.
Professor Choi’s research focus is Universal Design and Inclusive Design for Industrial Design Innovation. He presented at a number of conferences and universities in the USA, Japan, Mexico, Sweden, Norway, China, New Zealand, Canada, and Australia and published in various journals and periodicals. Few topics of his presentation are product innovation through inclusive design and application of emotional design to inclusive design.
He is also the Principal Investigator in various research projects, faculty advisor for collaborative design research projects from various corporate sponsors, and the Vice Chair for IDSA Southern Ohio Chapter.
