Two former IDSA International Design Conference chairs will play roles in Detroit's upcoming celebration of design. On Sept. 8, 2017, Sooshin Choi, IDSA, chair of #IDSADetroit16\, will serve as chair of the Collaboration = Innovation session at the College for Creative Studies, where Choi serves as provost and VP for academic affairs.The session will be held during the Detroit City of Design Summit, which runs through Sept. 14 and serves as a precursor to the seventh annual Detroit Design Festival (DDF), set for Sept. 26–30.
“From the workplace to the built environment, thoughtful design can impact and even change the way we experience the world around us,” say organizers of DDF 2017, which is programmed by the Detroit Creative Corridor Center, a partnership between CCS and Business Leaders for Michigan. During the festival, #IDSA17Atlanta Chair Jeevak Badve, IDSA, will deliver "Good Design is Good Business" on Sept. 29 in a presentation by TechTown and Sundberg-Ferar, where Badve serves as VP, strategic growth. Among the questions he'll tackle: "What are the fundamental abilities one should build and hone to take that leap to be an successful startup? What are the barriers in that realm and how to surmount them? How do we embrace whatever the world throws at us and be resourceful and resilient?" He says the hands-on talk is geared toward start-ups, inventors and entrepreneurs.
Also on Sept. 29, from 1 to 2pm at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn, IDSA International Design Excellence Awards 2017 Juror Marc Greuther will moderate the "Engineering Meets Design Thinking" panel, featuring Sandy Fershee, global manager, Ford UX and James Forbes, technical leader, Interaction and Ergonomics Attributes.
