What is the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA)?
Founded in 1965, the nonprofit Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) is one of the oldest and largest membership organizations for industrial design professionals. IDSA sponsors the annual International Design Excellence Awards® (IDEA), the world’s most prestigious and rigorous design competition. The Society hosts events including an annual International Design Conference and five District Design Conferences (DDCs), bringing together some of the biggest names and brightest minds in industrial design and related fields. INNOVATION, IDSA’s flagship publication, is a highly regarded magazine within the profession. IDSA has thousands of members in dozens of student and professional chapters, and special interest sections, in the United States and internationally. What are District Design Conferences?
IDSA is comprised of chapters within five geographic districts throughout the United States. From March to April, each district holds a conference. This is an exceptional opportunity for design professionals, students, educators and business professionals to:
- Explore how design is changing to meet expanding demands and take advantage of new opportunities
- Network and share ideas with colleagues, business professionals, design educators and students
- Learn from subject matter experts, design leaders and visionaries who will enlighten, educate and inspire you as we consider the future of design
Each spring, more than 1,000 attendees share information, celebrate design and learn from exceptional speakers and workshop facilitators at these DDCs. This spring, we expect an enthusiastic group to come and explore the changing landscape of design.
Who should attend?
Designers, business professionals, design educators and students—anyone who is passionate about design, creative, eager to learn and shape the future of the profession, and ready to celebrate the country’s best young designers who will be competing for the prestigious IDSA Student Merit Awards.
