This year at the IDSA South District Design Conference we are talking about making. We are excited to announce a new competition to focus on just that! The challenge is to make a lamp using the parameters outlined below:
The competition is open to students and professionals. There is no entry fee to participate, but you need to register here. You'll get your materials scavenger-hunt style. Go to one store, such as Lowe's and spend $25 or less. You will also need a lightbulb and light fixture, neither of which count toward your $25 spending cap. Let's see what you can do! Please see below for examples:
The material selection is the main restriction so you can make any lamp you want. Be creative with your design!
Bring your lamp with you to Orlando for display and judging (power will be supplied).
Prizes will be given to the top lamps, judged on the following criteria:
- Use of materials/cleverness
*Remember your project cannot exceed a materials budget of $25. Please bring your receipts as proof of material cost.
