The Chair-Elect’s role is to prepare for his/her tenure as Board Chair. The Chair-Elect automatically assumes the role of Board Chair after serving a one-year term. The Chair-Elect plays an active role on the Board and Executive Committee as he/she prepares for the highest volunteer leadership position within IDSA.
The At-Large Director represents the general interests of the Society and the membership-at-large. He/she consults, investigates and researches such matters affecting the profession and provides such information and reports to the Board as requested or as deemed advisable.
Specific for the 2016-2018 term, the At-Large Director will be given a conference-related portfolio. He/she will support the International Conference Taskforce as it develops recommendations for growing an already successful program. Additionally, responsibilities within the portfolio include helping to brand, differentiate and further all IDSA conferences.
The District VP chairs his/her District’s annual Design Conference as well as promotes, monitors and nurtures the effectiveness of the Chapters within his/her respective District.

The Section VP promotes, monitors and nurtures Professional Interest Sections and represents their interests on the Board of Directors. This role also is responsible for cultivating opportunities for relationships among Chapters, Sections and the Education Council.
The Education VP ensures members’ educational needs are met by working with the Education Council and serving as its Chair; leading the annual Education Symposium; through other events such as the District Design Conferences and International Conference; and via professional development offerings.
