What You Need to Know: IDEA 2016 Ceremony and Gala

If you're heading to Detroit this summer for IDSA's International Conference and/or International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) 2016, take note of some big differences from last year's schedule, to help you make travel arrangements.

The International Conference will be held from August 17–20 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. Buses will be provided from the hotel in Detroit on the evening of August 17 to The Henry Ford in Dearborn, MI, where the black-tie optional IDEA 2016 Ceremony and Samsung-sponsored Gala will be held. Return bus transportation to the hotel will be provided after the Ceremony and after the Gala.

The Ceremony is free and open to the public; tickets are NOT required. Entry to the Gala is included in the following conference registrations: Professional; International Professional; and Young Professional.

Entry to the Gala is not included in conference registrations for Students or Educators. IDEA winners who only wish to attend the Gala, can purchase tickets on-site.

As for the latest on IDEA 2016:

  • Onsite judging wrapped up June 3–6 at The Henry Ford.
  • All winners are posted.
  • A selection of IDEA winners will be on display in a new exhibit at the museum.
  • IDEA Gold and Silver winners will be announced on August 17 at the IDEA 2016 Ceremony.
