Call for Submissions Open for World Design Medal 2017
To celebrate its 60th anniversary, the World Design Organization (WDO)™ has launched the call for nominations for the World Design Medal, which recognizes industrial designers who have made a significant contribution to the advancement of the profession. "The World Design Medal aims to showcase exceptional industrial designers from around the globe who are making a positive impact on our quality of life and driving change in our world through design,” says WDO Senator Brandon Gien, PhD, who chairs the WDO Senate Selection Committee.
The call for nominations is open until April 30, 2017. The winner will be announced on World Industrial Design Day, June 29, and will be invited to travel to Torino, Italy in October 2017 to accept the medal and speak to the 30th WDO General Assembly.
WDO, formerly the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid), is an international non-governmental organization founded in 1957 to promote the profession of industrial design. WDO advocates industrial design driven innovation that creates a better world, engaging more than 140 member organizations, including the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), in collaborative efforts and carrying out international programming—World Design Capital®, World Design Talks, World Design Impact Prize, World Industrial Design Day, and Interdesign. WDO has United Nations Special Consultative Status.
