New Design Business Trends Report Released
How is the business of Industrial Design developing?
Through 2010, IDSA gathered information covering a total of 86 designers from 48 consultancies and 19 corporate design departments, including the top five consultancies on how they saw the design business changing and what they felt about the prospects for business going forward. The results make interesting reading and confirm a number of trends that we all probably suspected but did not know for sure!
In order to reflect the way that most consultancies and corporate offices are build, for the first time, we have included information on all the design competencies that each office has so that you get a much more realistic view of how we are developing as a profession.
This report is available for free by simply downloading it from the bottom of this article. IDSA has also produced the latest version of it's salary survey, which again is much more comprehensive than before because it covers all design jobs, not just industrial design jobs, thus giving much richer inputs for you, the practising professional.
We hope that this report can help inform some of your critical decision making about your business and would welcome all feedback to help us improve. Please write to execdir@idsa.org if you have comments, improvements or other questions that you would like to see in future surveys. We'd also like to hear if this was helpful information for you or not as there is no point in gathering it if it is not.
We have gathered these design business trends because members have asked us to help them improve their businesses and connect them to business better. This was the goal of the report and we hope we have met that.
