Innovation Quarterly Journal
The Journal of the Industrial Designers Society of America
Innovation is the premier advertising vehicle to reach IDSA members, design consultancies, corporate industrial design departments, ID educators and ID schools throughout the US. Published quarterly, subscribers and design officesmaintain a catalogue of back issues for reference and pass on to others. IDSA also delivers the publication digitally to members with page-turning software that gives advertisers a link to their website. Therefore, the journal provides advertising opportunities with an inherent impact and shelf life well beyond its three-month expiration.
With its clean layout, quality editorials and top-notch content, IDSA members named Innovation their number one benefit in a 2009, 2010 and 2011 membership surveys. A practicing design professional serves as executive editor for two years before handing the baton to a new member. The present executive editor is Mark Dziersk, FIDSA, who brings many years of corporate design expertise to the job. 2012 Editorial Calendar
SPRING: Form
The 2012 spring issue of Innovation celebrates form in industrial design. Industrial designers make the world better by giving form to ideas. They create real things that people touch, use and hold. As more of a designer's time is sucked into the virtual world (in school and the studio), the importance of physical experience needs to be reconfirmed. Additionally, the issue will explore how designers from Raymond Loewy and Henry Dreyfuss to Karim Rashid and Johnathan Ive have to agree with Karl Marx: "The philosphers have only interpreted the world, in various ways; the point is to change it."
Guest Editor: Tucker Veimeister, FIDSA, LAB at Rockwell Group
SUMMER: Design for Wounded Warriors
Injured US soldiers who return home can face numerous challenges beyond physical disabilities. The summer issue will focus on how design can create autonomy for our nation's wounded warriors. It will include articles on topics such as prosthetics design, rehab design and home modifications.
Guest Editor: Pattie Moore, FIDSA, Arizona State University
FALL: 2012 Yearbook of Design Excellence
Innovation profiles the winners of the 2012 International Design Excellence Awards.
WINTER: User Experience: The emotuional, physical and digital interactions of ID
This issue will explore usability, GUI design, inclusive design and design research.
Guest Editor: Stephen Wilcox, FIDSA, Design Science
