George McCain, FIDSA | IDSA Chairman | University of Washington

An unflagging champion on behalf of quality education for the next generation of designers, George McCain, FIDSA, has served as Design Foundation President and chair of the Society’s Membership Task Force, he now takes on the leadership role of IDSA Chairman for 2011-2012.

When administrators at the University of Washington were considering elimination of the industrial design program, he met with directors, deans and the local community to assert the importance of the discipline and its centrality to research and innovation. McCain’s achievements as a design professional clearly demonstrate how industrial design can lead business growth and corporate strategy.
