I know of a few big corporations (BMW, SONY, LEGO and GE) who have crowdsourced product designs. Who else is too?
It may be a little different than what you're thinking of, but from the agency side of the fence, IDEO has been doing the OpenIDEO program for a while - crowdsourcing design for social good. I've participated in a couple of their projects through the San Diego OpenIDEO chapter. It's an interesting approach.

I guess I'm more interested in how in the post-Quirky era, business approaches the crowd and if it's only working in the niche markets of say, Local Motors for example.
