On behalf of the IDSA Education Committee, we invite educators, practitioners and students to attend this summer's national education conference at the Holiday Inn Select in Old Town Alexandria, VA. The hotel is located about seven blocks from Washington Alexandria Architecture Center, the College of Architecture and Urban Studies for Virginia Polytechnic University.
This intimate conference will allow participants to interact and share ideas throughout the two and half days of content rich presentations and interactive discussions about contemporary design issues.
Conference Themes Available Soon!
This year, you can expect:
- High level presenters chosen from a record number of abstracts from our international design/education community
- A maximum selection of break-out sessions that cover a full range of interests
- Collegiate teaching scenarios, success stories, contemporary issues, and instructional methods
- Additional learning opportunities through new pre-conference seminars.
A themed Research Forum will offer solutions that frequently elude junior faculty, such as:
- What constitutes appropriate research and how do I engage the process in our academic design community?
- How do junior faculty members obtain research funding?
- Reaching for tenure with the right stuff...magic, mind-set or passion with a plan.
- How do expectations for intellectual research differ in the art school model compared to the university model?
