Digital Control Incorporated, DigiTrak F2 Drill-Head Locator
The DigiTrak F2 Drill-Head Locator is a handheld device that allows utility workers to accurately monitor the position and progress of subterranean Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) equipment. HDD process (also called "trenchless" process) is the minimally-invasive surgery of the construction industry, enabling the precise placement of underground utilities such as telecommunications, power, water and gas with much less disruption to the natural environment than previous methods. The system consists of a transmitter (attached to the drill-head) and a handheld receiver. Working together, they calculate depth, position and directional information. This location data is displayed on the receiver and also transmitted to a remote display mounted on the HDD rig, allowing the pair of operators to direct the drill's progress to its destination.
