Dan Harden, IDSA | President, CEO, Whipsaw Inc.
Dan is President, CEO, Principal Designer and cofounder of Whipsaw Inc., a highly acclaimed design firm in the Silicon Valley. Whipsaw designs products and experiences for major companies around the world including Google, Cisco, GE, Haier, Intel, Merck, Nike, Olympus, and Samsung plus many exciting startups including Apnicure, Dropcam, Livescribe and Yubo. Dan is a hands-on designer and directs the strategic and conceptual direction of most client accounts.
Throughout his prolific 32-year career Dan has designed hundreds of highly successful products. Some of these include the Google Chromecast, Dell’s Precision line, Dropcam security cameras, Livescribe computer pens, Eton emergency radios and stereos, Adiri baby bottle, Cisco Telepresence systems, Yubo lunch boxes, Intel healthcare tablets, Kaleidescape Cinema One, Leapfrog leappads, Roku TV devices, TP-Link networking devices, Pano Logic (the world’s tiniest computer), Topcon survey equipment, Braun Thermoscan thermometer, Sony headsets, the original Acer Aspire PC line, NeXT computers, Oracle Network Computers, Logitech mice, the first digital camera for Polaroid, and the first digital answering machine for AT&T.
Dan has won over 200 design awards including 30 IDEA awards and has been granted over 250 design and utility patents. His work is in the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt Museum, the Chicago Athenaeum, and the Pasadena Museum of California Art. Dan's views and work have been featured in Business Week, CNN, Domus, Fast Company, Fortune, Metropolis, Newsweek, Time, and Wired.
Prior to founding Whipsaw in 1999, Dan was the President of Frogdesign where he designed many winning products and led the company for ten years. Before Frogdesign he was a lead designer at Henry Dreyfuss Associates, and an intern at HP, George Nelson Associates, and Richardson Smith (Fitch). Dan graduated from the University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Architecture and Art in 1982.
