美国工业设计师协会在1965年合并了3个机构而成立,其前身可以追溯到1913年。工业设计师为各行各业设计产品、服务、界面和包装等等。美国工业设计师协会促进工业设计服务与教育。
其宗旨是:带动设计对企业和社会的积极影响,其使命是:通过教育培训、信息提供、会议交流和宣传活动,推动工业设计行业的发展。
美国工业设计师协会拥有会员2400名,学生会员1500名,在美国的27个城市设有分会,14个董事会成员,15个特殊兴趣小组,14个全职工作人员,150个自愿工作者,代表各行各业的设计咨询专家、企业设计师、教育工作者和学生。
全年组织6次会议和一次IDEA国际设计优秀奖的评选工作,开办INNOVATION创新季刊、一个官方网站www.idsa.org和一周3次设计界新闻邮件。
信息业将会推动这个人造的世界,无论是物件/产品、空间、还是通讯,工业设计师都将利用信息技术连接一切。正所谓设计聚合。
在21世纪,工业设计将从“给产品以形状”转变为“给体验以形状”。
在2009年的IDEA国际设计优秀奖评选活动中,共收得来自38个国家的1900个作品,评选出190个奖项。这个奖项的赞助商有:美国知名杂志FAST COMPANY, 亨利·福特博物馆、道康宁公司等。
季度刊物INNOVATION创新杂志代言美国工业设计行业,就设计类问题及其长远趋势进行深度报导,向广大社会和企业界传达设计的重要价值。第3季度,及秋季版的INNOVATION创新杂志收集的是当年的IDEA获奖作品介绍,即IDEA年鉴。据统计,它是北美工业设计师读的最多杂志,也是北美工业设计界订阅最广的杂志。它是设计师们工作和学习的参考书,也是借以向工业设计行业宣传产品和服务的媒介。
美国工业设计师协会的赞助商涵盖几乎所有知名企业:欧特克、摩托罗拉、惠而浦、微软、国际商用机器、通用电器、三星、苹果。
Established in 1965 by the coming together of 3 organizations who’s roots go back to 1913! Industrial Designers design products, services, interfaces, packaging and much more for industry. IDSA promotes the practice and education of Industrial Design.
It has chapters in 27 cities, 2400 members +1500 students, board of 14 people, 15 special interest groups. It represents design consultants, corporate designers, educators and students across all industries. It includes a staff of 14 + 150 volunteers. It organizes 6 conferences, IDEA international awards scheme, INNOVATION Quarterly, web site and 3 weekly e-mails.
Information will drive the man made world: Design convergence.
In the 21st century, Industrial Design will shift from “giving form to products” to “giving form to experiences.”
IDSA2009 received 1900 entries from 38 countries and granted 190 awards. Its sponsors included Fast Company, Henry Ford Museum, Dow Corning, etc.
Innovation is the voice of the industrial design profession. It provides in-depth coverage of design issues and long-term trends while communicating the value of design to business and society at large. Published quarterly: Spring, Summer, Fall / Yearbook, Winter, the Fall / Yearbook profiles the winners of the IDEA (International Design Excellence Awards) program. It reaches more industrial designers in North American than any other publications. It’s also the publication designers refer to for content and substance on industrial design and where advertisers to go reach those same designers who make early phase decisions during product development.
