1998 National Housewares Manufacturers Association
At its annual conference in San Diego, California IDSA honored the Association, "for its leadership in recognizing the value of design. In 1990, NHMA established a scholarship to recognize talented industrial design students and to build an awareness for the housewares industry.
The $2,500 scholarship grew in 1993 to become a national competition, awarding $10,000, with the endorsement of IDSA. The NHMA annual competition, coupled with the designer's presentations at the Design Oasis of the International Housewares Show have played a major role in promoting the housewares industry and the valuable work of industrial designers in this industry."
It should be noted that both these programs have been organized and directed by Victoria Matranga, IDSA since their inception.
