Bryce Rutter, PhD, IDSA, is founder and CEO of Metaphase Design Group, Inc.—an IDSA Ambassador, marking its 27th year. Rutter is an expert in the research, human factors engineering and ergonomic design of hand-intensive products. His work ranges from robotic surgical systems, surgical instruments and devices to smart phones, computer input devices and wearables—to various industries, including food and beverage packaging and beauty and personal care products.
Rutter has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Toronto Globe & Mail and Chicago Tribune; and on CNN, CTV and National Geographic Channel. He has received 144 design awards and been awarded more than 125 design patents. Rutter served as an IDSA International Design Excellence Awards 2017 juror. Rutter spoke at the IDSA Medical Design Conference 2015 in Tampa on the "Five Factors of Human Medical Design." He also spoke at the IDSA Medical Design Conference 2016 in San Francisco on "The Dignity of Living" and contributed to IDSA INsights on the same subject.
