Brian Harris, IDSA | Carolina Vice Chair

Originally from Hershey, Pennsylvania, Brian Harris transferred out of a Mechanical Engineering major and into the Industrial Design program at Appalachian State University in North Carolina. There he led multiple student design teams and projects, including holding vice and executive officer’s positions in the local IDSA student chapter. Additionally he was awarded with one of the most prestigious scholarships in the home furnishings industry, the Celia Moh Scholarship, as well as the Debra Edwards design scholarship, the IDSA Student Merit nomination (2011), IRWIN’s sponsored studio concept development award, and Dean’s and Chancellor’s list recognition consistently.

With his background in engineering and recent bachelor’s degree in design, he currently works in South Carolina doing concept feasibility and prototyping as a part of the Advanced Concept Engineering group at Techtronic Industries.

When not at work, he can often be found behind a camera, traveling, or sailing on Lake Hartwell.
