The International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) is a global not-for-profit organization that promotes better design around the world. Today, Icsid counts over 150 members in more than 50 countries, representing an estimated 150,000 designers. Here are some of the Icsid people who are making CONNECTING’07 and the celebration of the Icsid 50th Anniversary possible.

Prof. Dr. Peter Zec
Peter Zec is the President of Icsid and will preside over the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the organization at CONNECTING’07. He has been president of the internationally renowned Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen since 1991. He developed the institution, founded in 1954, into a qualification and communication center for business, design and society. Its red dot design award is regarded as one of the most prestigious international prizes for innovative design. He is the publisher of the "red dot design yearbook" and the "Who's Who in Design" among other design books.

Carlos Hinrichsen
Professor Hinrichsen is the President-Elect of Icsid and the Chair of the Selection Committee for the International Sessions at CONNECTING’07. He has practiced industrial design in Chile since 1992, at the same time as being Professor and Director of the School of Design, Insituto Profesional DuocUC of the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile and was head of DuocUC Design Center from 1998 to 2003. He has participated as Research Director in projects concerning innovation in design education using new technologies and has actively participated as a coordinator of agreements with Latin-American, Japanese, European and Asian Universities and organizations.

Dr. Mark Breitenberg
Mark is Education Chair of the Executive Board of Icsid. Since 2000 he has been Dean of Undergraduate Education at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, USA. He has a PhD in Literature and Critical Theory from the University of California, San Diego. He is the author of many articles in the fields of art, design education and literary history. His book “Anxious Masculinity” is about Shakespeare and his contemporaries.

Lorraine Justice
Lorraine Justice is Congress Coordinator for CONNECTING’07 on behalf of the Icsid Executive Board. She is currently the Swire Chair and Head of the School of Design at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Dr. Justice was responsible for co-organizing the First China-USA Industrial Design Conference in Beijing, and the first Doctoral Education in Design Conference in Ohio. She also serves on the advisory board of two international design journals, Design Issues and The Design Journal, as well as a jurist and reviewer for international conferences.
