Icsid has been furthering the cause of international design for half a century, a milestone that CONNECTING’07 will celebrate. The presenters for the program in the Masonic Auditorium are mostly international, bringing their perspectives about design from all over the world. International sessions will continue in the adjoining hotels and in the Design Galleries.
Our international program opens with a Celebration of 50 Years of Icsid. Peter Zec, Icsid President, will be our chair for the celebration of the fiftieth birthday of the organization and the opening of the Congress. You will then have the chance to visit the Design Gallery and lobby spaces of the Masonic Center to look at the displays and partake of delicious food and drinks from all over the world.
Carlos Hinrichsen, President Elect of Icsid, is the Chair of the selection committee for the international/regional sessions. These sessions will focus on Design Around the World Connecting Places, Peoples, Virtual, Visceral, Beautiful and Bountiful, and offer a unique perspective on what‚s happening in the many design communities within the Icsid network and further a field. This will provide the opportunity for cross cultural exchange and a global understanding of the connections between design communities the world over. The final selection for these sessions is still being made and details will follow shortly.
